Hamid Karimi’s journey as an artist began in childhood. Born in Tehran, Iran in the late 1960s, he showed an aptitude for art from an early age and later spent years travelling through Europe. Spain in particular continues to influence his work.
His travels inspire a wide range of subjects, from flamenco dancers and stage performance to landscapes and cityscapes from Canada and Europe. His work is marked by energy, colour and a strong sense of movement—qualities that also make him a natural fit for photographing tango.
