2023 TANGO DE PISTA WORLD CHAMPIONS

Suyay Quiroga and Jhonny Carvajal are the 2023 Tango BA World Champions in Tango de Pista, the category that celebrates the essence of social Argentine tango: connection, musicality, navigation, improvisation and the embrace.

Their championship performance stood out not through theatrical tricks, but through tango itself. They bring together strong traditional foundations with personality, musical interpretation and creative improvisation—the qualities that make social tango feel alive rather than rehearsed.

Their victory in Buenos Aires came after competing at the highest international level. The final drew dancers from around the world, and their performance at the Obelisk was met with an enthusiastic audience response. Their dancing was widely noted for its passion and connection, showing why traditional Tango de Pista can still feel fresh, expressive and deeply personal.
