Virginia Pandolfi is one of the most respected women in Argentine tango: an elegant, musical and deeply authentic dancer, a renowned milonguera, and a teacher whose technique classes have influenced dancers around the world.
Her reputation as a teacher is exceptional. In a major international tango survey published in 2014, Virginia ranked sixth among all teachers and references named by dancers worldwide—and she was the highest-ranked woman on the list. Her signature technique training became especially sought after for its detailed work on walking, posture, dissociation, spirals, pivots, movement mechanics and the use of the body inside the embrace.
Virginia’s career has also placed her alongside some of tango’s most celebrated dancers. She formed an important partnership with Fabián Peralta and has also danced and taught with the legendary Javier Rodríguez. These collaborations helped shape a style rooted in salon tango, close communication and the traditions of the milonga while remaining intensely personal.
Her own journey moved from early ballet and stage-tango training toward improvisational, social and milonguero tango. Today her dancing is recognized for elegance, authenticity, sensuality and musicality. Her teaching goes beyond steps: it develops the body awareness, balance, mechanics and connection that allow dancers to improvise with greater freedom.
For dancers who care about technique, Virginia is not simply another visiting teacher. She is one of the figures who helped define how a generation of tango dancers understands movement, connection and individual technique.
